2014 Season Update

Dearest Duke Tennis Fans,

It had been quite some time since we have written to you, and I apologize for our absence. However, I am thrilled to now share the exciting season that DWT has had up to this point. Easily our most memorable moment thus far has been winning National Team Indoors last month. It was a grueling four days of matches and could not have been accomplished without the cohesiveness exhibited by our team. We often discuss the importance of playing as team and for each other, and I truly believe that we exemplified this and that allowed us to emerge victorious. In that moment I could not have been more proud of my teammates as they displayed their grit and desire to win. I want to stress that the opportunity presented to us was something that we had been preparing for since the beginning of the year. All the hard work that we put in on and off the court was worth it, and we are more energized than ever to keep going.

Although we achieved a major team goal, the season is far from over. We had a rare weekend off after Indoors then returned to begin ACC play in the same place we left off, Charlottesville, VA. Unfortunately, we lost to UVA, but we resolved to take the loss as a learning opportunity. I'm happy to report that we followed that match up with a great weekend at home against Notre Dame and UNC thanks to awesome support from our fans! We always expect to be tested when we face UNC, and this was no different. From the very beginning of the doubles point it was a battle. We stayed tough for the duration of the 4 hour match and came away with the win!

Next weekend we travel to Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, then we are off to Florida for spring break! Expect updates about future matches and the exciting activities on our spring break trip.

As always, thank you for your unwavering support of DWT! We truly appreciate all that you do for us and cannot wait to see you at our next home match.

Until then,
Hanna and all of DWT
